Board of Directors

The APFTQ’s board of directors is composed of 13 elected members and the appointed president/CEO. The executive committee includes the chair, vice-chair film, vice-chair television, secretary-treasurer and president/CEO.

    André Provencher

    President, La Presse Télé       

    André Provencher has a distinguished track record                  with  communications and media organizations                        including  Radio-Québec, Cogeco, Telemedia, Coscient            Group and TVA.  Recognized for his creativity and             administrative skills, he has made his mark in several areas,     most notably as a program director. Under his leadership, TVA program ratings rose to unprecedented  highs, climbing from a 32% to a 41% market share. In 2001 he joined Gesca Group,  where he founded La Presse Télé while holding key positions involving business development and diversification strategies. Provencher builds the way he leads:  actively and energetically. In addition to La Presse Télé, he heads Éditions Gesca, Éditions La Presse and other Gesca firms in the magazine and book publishing  sector.

Luc Châtelain

Vice-President, Film et Television, Équipe Spectra

Over the years, Luc Châtelain has forged partnerships with Amérimage-Spectra, Sogestalt Télévision, Spectra 5V Film, Productions Bleu Blanc Rouge, Films Zingaro and Spectra Animation. Having served as co-chair of SODEC's standing finance commission he now sits on the board and investment

committee at FIDEC. A longtime member of the APFTQ's Finance Committee, he has represented the Association to the federal Standing Committee on Finance and the provincial parliamentary commissions on SODEC. Working with ADISQ, he was also instrumental in establishing the Quebec government's sound recording and variety show tax credit program.

Marc Daigle

President, ACPAV

Since co-founding ACPAV in 1971, Marc Daigle has been a steadfast supporter of auteur films, with a special interest in thought-provoking works. Among his credits are 20h17, rue Darling, 15 février 1839, La Femme qui boit, Octobre and La Sarrasine. The many awards earned by ACPAV films include

the International Critics' Week Prize at Cannes and numerous Prix Jutra. In addition to drama features, Marc Daigle has produced documentaries, such as Dans l'esprit de Norman Bethune, Un miroir sur la scène , and the youth series Livrofolie Plus.

Isabelle Robert

President, Pram

Isabelle Robert joined Pram in 1992 and began producing three years later. In 2003, she was appointed president of Pram Quebec, which operates in three areas: television production, international format and program distribution, and equipment and editing suite rental. Her production credits include more than 20 television series ranging from magazine programs to variety, drama, public affairs, youth, reality and comedy shows, such as Le sketch show, Passion maisons, Tête Première, Karv l'Anti-Gala, La face cachée de la une, Politiquement Colette, Surprise sur prise and Occupation double (coproduction).

Claire Samson

President and CEO, APFTQ

Claire Samson has been CEO of the APFTQ since January 2000. Her extensive experience of the broadcasting industry spans 20 years, during which she has held various positions including those of executive vice-president and chief of operations at TQS, vice-president of communications at TVA and director of communications and interim director general

of programming at Radio-Canada.

Sophie Deschênes

Producer and Associate, Productions Sovimage

Sophie Deschênes has worked in television production since 1986, initially as production manager for drama and children's programs with Azimut Films, SDA Productions, Prisma and Sovimage, and then as line producer for Sovimage's Gémeaux-winning series Des crimes et des hommes . In 1994, she was appointed development producer for the company's drama and documentary projects. Since becoming a partner, in 2003, she has executive produced Le Négociateur (1) and produced numerous other series such as Missions secrètes, La famille, Enquêtes, Délateurs, Victimes (1 and 2), Les Ex, Le Négociateur (2 and 3) and Musée Éden . She is also credited as co-editor of Yves Thériault's book Tout le monde dehors , published by Sovimage with Libre Expression.

 

Pierre Even

President, Item 7

Pierre Even recently opened his own feature film production company, Item 7 . From 2002 to 2009, he was part of the Cirrus team, in charge of feature film development. His first production, C.R.A.Z.Y., was a spectacular box-office hit that also earned critical acclaim and 49 awards. Nitro , his second film, was released in July 2007. Previous to joining Cirrus, he headed the feature film unit at Telefilm Canada's Quebec office. From 1996 to 1998 he was general manager for film and television at Distributions Rozon, and from 1990 to 1996 he served as vice-president, legal and business affairs for Malofilm Distribution and corporate secretary for Malofilm Productions. Trained as an attorney, Pierre Even also chairs the board of the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois.

 

Carmen Garcia
President, Argus Films

Carmen Garcia came to documentary filmmaking after stints in publishing and journalism. She cut her teeth as a producer on the series L'Enjeu des femmes, made by Ciné-Contact for Radio-Canada. In 1988, she co-founded Les Productions du Système D, later renamed Argus Films inc., with German Gutierrez but continued to work with companies such as Pixcom and Galafilm and the NFB. In 2003, after two years as an analyst at Telefilm Canada, she revived Argus Films. Recent titles include Qui a tiré sur mon frère? (writer/producer), Le voyage de Nadia (co-director/producer) and L'École symphonique (director/producer).

 

Michel Laliberté

President, Tout Écran

Michel Laliberté is a former journalist turned producer and content editor in 1983. Since then, through Tout Écran, he has produced and overseen more than 250 youth programs, 40-plus documentary episodes, 2 TV movies, 4 drama programs and upwards of 225 magazine show episodes. Motivated by significant content, he favours uplifting themes and subjects. His ability to zoom in on and deal with viewer concerns place him among the industry forces who influence public debate on television. Living and working in Quebec City , he is a firm believer in the diversity of voices and places when it comes to creation.

 

Jean-Pierre Morin

President, Vivavision

Jean-Pierre Morin's work as a television scriptwriter,director and producer over nearly three decades has earned him more than 40 Gémeaux awards, numerous Metro Star awards and many other honours and nominations. Beginning as a writer for the children's series Les Oraliens , under Pierre

Gauvreau, he went on to make Radio-Québec and Télé-Québec history. In addition to the famed youth shows Les 100 watts and Watatatow , he has left his mark on Macaroni tout garni , Ramdam , Kif-Kif and Stan et ses stars , as well as animation and drama series and one-off documentaries. In 1989, he founded Vivavision, a youth and family content film and television production company.

 

Josette D. Normandeau

President, Idéacom

After starting out in journalism, Josette D. Normandeau served as advisor to the Quebec Delegation in New England before heading the multimedia division of New England Audio. In the early 90s, she worked as director of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Canada, handling events such as Inforum, at Montréal's World Trade Center . Joining Ideacom in 1994, she hosted and produced the international trade series Tradewinds/Univers inc. , notable as a pioneering effort to migrate TV content to the Web. As president of the Ideacom Group since 2000, she is involved in project development and positioning. At the Institut national de l'image et du son, she sits on the academic committee for the documentary program and teaches documentary production.

 

Luc Wiseman
President, Avanti Ciné-Vidéo

Luc Wiseman learned the ropes as production manager, director and executive producer before joining Avanti Ciné Vidéo as producer. Founded in 1989, the company is responsible for such broadcast successes as La Petite vie, Un gars une fille, Catherine, Cher Olivier, Willie and Piment Fort. Now sole owner of Avanti Ciné Vidéo, Luc Wiseman plays an active role in the industry, notably as a member of SODEC’s Commission du disque, du spectacle et de la variété and the Prix Gémeaux rules and regulations committee.

 

Marc S. Grenier

Chief Officer and Executive Producer, La Fabrique d'Images

Marc S. Grenier is a veteran director with more than 15 years of international award-winning commercials to his credit (TVB Awards, Marketing, Publicité Club de Montréal, Mobius, Batchi, Monitor Awards, Communication Arts Magazine, Directors Club Award). Since joining La Fabrique d'images in 1989 and becoming a partner in 1992, he has also helmed several features. He now serves as Executive Producer and General Manager.

 

Jacques Bilodeau

President, Quiet Motion

Jacques Bilodeau has been active in television for nearly 30 years. In 1981, he founded PMT Vidéo, a post-production company specializing in video technical services, special effects and 3D animation. During a five-year stint with TVA Group he was instrumental in producing more than 250 hours of interactive TV programming. From 1994 to 2003, as founding president and CEO of Toon Boom Technologies Inc., he helped drive the global cartoon industry's shift to digital technologies, supplying Walt Disney Animation, Warner Bros., Dreamworks and other studios. A former member of the APFTQ board, he is also a co-founder and past board member of INIS. Currently he is producing documentaries and animation series.
